Simply Ravishing Rose, a Blenheim Cavalier

Rosie's page is part of an effort by Helping Hearts to raise money to fund research into mitral valve disease (MVD), which is a serious health problem in the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

Hi,
My name is very long so everyone calls me Rosie. I am an 18 month old Blenheim Cavalier. My Mom says I have a very good coat, nice and shiny and she brushes and combs me every morning. It is almost fun but then I get a little cookie (vitC) if I am super good so I put up with the whole thing, face washing included. Yuk!

My furmom, Lexi, and my fursister, Fancy kissed me goodbye in Oregon. My mom, Linda took me to a big building, and then I got on a HUGE bird that took me to Carlsbad. What a trip!! Having never been on a big bird before I was kinda nervous. Linda kept telling me I would be okay because the bird flies very fast and I would be with my new mom soon. Then she left me and there I was all alone in my crate. I tried to think of good things, like how fun it was going to be in my new house and maybe I would get cookies, hugs, and lots of loving. Those are my favorite things. Then I remembered that all my toys were in Oregon. Would I get NEW toys in Carlsbad.? Then came sad thoughts. Would I ever see my real mom again, how about my sister?? I stayed very quiet so no one would notice me but little tears were running out of my eyes. I sure hoped the HUGE bird knew where he was going.

Big Bird spread his wings and we were in the air. My stomach was feeling real funny and I felt kinda sick. I remember thinking that I would never fly with another bird, no matter how big. All of a sudden the bird swooped down and landed with 3 big bangs on the ground. I laid in my crate with my paws dug into the blanket so I wouldn't roll around.

I guessed I was in the pick up place because people were looking in my crate and saying what a cute puppy. I thought cute nothing, where is this new mom????? Here I was all the way from Oregon on this awful bird and no one. Suddenly my crate was picked up and slammed down on a counter. Was this that moment, was she here for me? Yes, it was my NEW MOM and a friend. They took me to the car IN THE CRATE. I thought "will she take me outa here or is this it forever." When we got to the car, she reached in and said nice things and put me on her chest, and I fell fast asleep.

I love everything about my new house, the toys, and "wow", I have lots of them, upstairs and downstairs, the good food, although I don't eat a lot. I take my mom for walks two times a day. I don't think she catches on to butterfly chasing, because I can't get her to run really fast. I usually let my mom think she is in charge but we all know who is really in charge around here, don't we? However, I do let her sleep on the satin pillow some nights.

I have many furfriends, Baba, a big brown dog, likes to chase me and thinks he's in charge of me. Then there is Lucky my "sort of" boyfriend, who keeps eyeing me (parts mostly). He is a little gray and black dog, not my type at all. Eisenhower is about as big as a loaf of bread and is afraid of everything on earth.

Hope you like reading about me. I will write more on my latest adventures very soon.
